This report examined the benefits of respite care for military families with special needs. It also presents a summary of telephone survey conducted in nine heavily military-impacted states regarding the availability and accessibility of respite care in the civilian sector.

Child sexual abuse is a pervasive societal problem. The current prevention model tends to place the responsibility on the very young people that are being victimized. Instead, there needs to be a more comprehensive approach that targets all contexts of a young person’s life.
This review focuses on organizational roles in the prevention of sexual abuse in young people ages 6 to 17 due to the increased interaction of this age group with adults and others in relative positions of power.
Sexual abuse of children and youth, ages 6-17, refers to sexual acts perpetrated by an individual in relative power to the victim. The sexual abuse of young people typically occurs in private and leaves no physical signs, which makes detection very difficult.
