Our objective is to determine the prevalence of recurrent headaches in military-dependent children and to study the changes in headache frequency, severity, and duration during a parental deployment. Recurrent headaches are common in children and are often intensified by stressful life events.

In this article we explore the micro-social context of parental tobacco use in the first years of a child’s life and early childhood. We conducted individual interviews with 28 mothers and fathers during the 4 years following the birth of their child.
Most research focuses on the negative impact of second-hand smoke and children and ways to reduce this risk. This study utilized qualitative interviews to better understand how children influence parent smoking practices.
