Background: We sought to describe sex differences in the prevalence of painful musculoskeletal conditions in men and women Veterans after deployment in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) (OEF-OIF).

Using a sample of 450,329 OEF/OIF Veterans who sought care at Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals one to seven years after deployment, gender differences in the prevalence of musculoskeletal conditions in male and female OEF/OIF Veterans was explored.

We examined the prevalence of childhood (?18 years) physical and sexual abuse reported among patients admitted to the psychiatric inpatient service and the differential rates of this abuse associated with psychiatric diagnoses.

Researchers conducted a retrospective chart review of 603 consecutive psychiatric inpatients at one Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital to assess the prevalence of reported childhood physical and sexual abuse. The prevalence of reported childhood physical or sexual abuse was 19%.

Objective: Several studies have reported high rates of alcohol misuse and low rates of substance use treatment among OEF/OIF military service members.

The prevalence and correlation between reported alcohol misuse, the associations with mental health symptoms (depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, suicidal ideation) and factors related to treatment utilization of recently returned OEF/OIF National Guard (NG) Service members

Although the prevalence of mental health disorders in troops serving in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) is high, many OEF/OIF veterans appear to refuse or delay mental health treatment.
