Objective: To examine changes in parent depression, psychological distress, parenting stress, and self-efficacy among participants in a randomized trial of a Web-based parent training program for pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Parenting is a difficult and challenging responsibility. Although childbearing may appear instinctive, childrearing is not. It is immensely time consuming and requires much effort. Parenting is an incredible journey, but the parent-child relationship can be wearisome and often bewildering.
This study examined the bidirectional relations between authoritative parenting and adolescents’ prosocial behavior over a 1‐year time period.
Parenting programs for school-aged children are typically based on behavioral principles as applied in social learning theory. It is not yet clear if the benefits of these interventions extend beyond aspects of the parent–child relationship quality conceptualized by social learning theory.
Objective: Although efficacious interventions exist for childhood conduct problems, a majority of families in need of services do not receive them. To address problems of treatment access and adherence, innovative adaptations of current interventions are needed.
A culturally sensitive approach needs to be adopted in disseminating evidence-based preventive programs internationally, and very little is known about effective dissemination into low-resource settings such as low and middle income countries.
The vast majority of evidence-based programs (EBPs) for parenting are manualized and, as evaluated in research settings, have been implemented with a high degree of fidelity.
