Aircrew Wives and the Intermittnet Husband Syndrome

Type
Summary

This study tested the hypothesis that women whose husbands worked as air crew (WHAs) on commercial airlines may suffer from the intermittent husband syndrome. 57 WHAs and 64 women whose husbands worked as ground crew (WHGs) on airlines completed a questionnaire about their feelings of well-being, mood, and ability to sleep over a 1-week period prior to completing the questionnaire. WHAs had a lower sense of well-being and reported more sleep disturbances than WHGs. Results support the idea that WHAs are prone to the psychological problems presented in the intermittent husband syndrome.
