The emergence of Multimedia(MM) technology that combines text, video, sound and animation under the control of personal computers, and the emergence of the WWW as a global community of tens of millions of people, sharing information, has created enormous interest in researching the applications and effects of the new technology in education. Kingston Business School has been carrying out research on development, evaluation and the effects of the new technology in a number of areas. This paper will give an overview of some of the work carried out so-far, including the evaluation of hypermedia as a means of delivery of courses. Overall, the findings indicated that hypermedia is as effective as traditional modes of course delivery. The paper will also discuss further issues that need to be investigated.
