Meaningful literacy: The Significance of Enriched Learning Environments

This article focuses on the opportunities for language and literacy learning that rich learning spaces and designs provide within an early years classroom. In particular, prospects for such learning may be provided by an early years leaning space I designed in my third year of teacher education (primary), which won the Early Childhood category of the Oxford University Press Education Innovation Award 2014. Included in this article are recognition and exploration of key frameworks, approaches and practices as well as the latest and evolving research.
