Healing the Inner City Child: Creative Arts Therapies with At-Risk Youth

Type
Summary

This book emerged out of a desire to highlight an often under-served population and a mission to promote a thriving profession. After working with inner city, at-risk children as a music therapist for ten years in New York City and Washington DC, I have a clear understanding of their needs and a clear vision of how the creative arts therapies are uniquely suited to address them. The complexities faced by inner city children are overwhelming when taken as larger societal issues, but are extremely basic when broken down into the individual needs of each child: to be fed, loved, and heard.
