Type
Summary

In recent years we have witnessed increasing awareness of the effects of stressful and traumatic events upon children and adolescents. Although most research has focused upon natural disasters or discrete human-initiated acts of violence such as rape, kidnapping, and sniper shooting, the recent events in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm have heightened awareness and concerns about the effects of war-related stressors in children and adolescents, drawing specifically upon the events of Operation Desert Storm when appropriate.
