The Excellence in Youth Programming (eXcel) Process strives to support the delivery of high quality youth programs for youth ages 9–18. The backbone of eXcel is the Youth Development Observational Tool (YDOT) an assessment tool that focuses on the youth development practitioner and his/her interactions with young people while assessing multiple environmental elements of a program. The unique feature of eXcel is the integration of the YDOT into a virtual assessment and program development plan. eXcel identifies and addresses the challenges youth development programs face.

The unique features of eXcel include:

  • Affordable virtual option for youth program quality assessments.
  • Convenient access for youth development programs world-wide.
  • Discreet assessment of staff-youth interactions.
  • Broad network of resources, tools, and research for youth development
